Philosophy
A lot of what we do at Simi is based on tradition, enhanced with cutting-edge innovation. Our philosophy has always been to maintain the quality and style that we're recognized for, while at the same time improve our methods for growing grapes and crafting wines to reflect the experience and knowledge we are accumulating and have been throughout the winery's 125-year history.
Long ago we also realized the importance of Alexander Valley and knew that it would be a leading appellation for growing Bordeaux varietals. Today we showcase the region with our Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot as well as our vineyard-designated Landslide Cabernet Sauvignon.
In 1989 we purchased our Russian River Valley Goldfields Vineyard and planted it to hand-selected original cuttings from some of the best and oldest vineyards in California. This innovative technique gives us the amazing diversity of flavors that has made Simi's Russian River Reserve Chardonnay famous.
Visitor Center
The Simi Winery Visitor Center is open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm for wine tasting, winery tours, retail sales and Wine Club discounts. There are two winery tours daily at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. If you would like to schedule a group tour of ten or more, please contact Pam Heath at (707) 473-3231 or email her at pheath@simiwinery.com.
The Simi Winery tour takes you through the winery for a glimpse at Simi's colorful past as well as an informative look at our present winemaking methods. After the tour, you'll be invited to taste Simi wines in the rustic-styled Visitor Center, built in 1970 of stone and wood. Paneled with redwood from a 25,000 gallon barrel that once held wine in Simi's cellar, the Visitor Center is warmed in winter by a fireplace built of basalt quarried on the property.
Our friendly and knowledgable staff is available to answer any questions as you taste our wines. After you wine-taste and shop, enjoy a Simi wine and a picnic in our 70-year-old Redwood grove.
With every taste of Simi wines you'll discover our devotion to tradition that is enhanced by our pursuit of the best vineyards, the best grape-growing methods, and the best winemaking techniques.
