Wine is the backbone
of our economy. Each year, one can't help but notice
the buds swell, the freshness of the pale green new leaves,
the lush beauty of the summer vineyard, then the fruit swelling
and ripening. The vineyard workers come and harvest the fruit
and the whole valley is rich with the smell of the crush.
The leaves turn their autumn colors and fall to the ground
and the vineyard is asleep again. The wineries, however,
are busy making the fruit of the grapevines into sumptuous
wines.
These industry groups offer more information about wines,
wineries and the industry surrounding it.

Fresh Foods Harvest! The vineyards will be harvesting and so will local farmers. This month we should be flooded with beautiful summer veggies. Many purveyors are offering heirloom tomatoes and unusual varieties of summer squash. Look for fresh local cucumbers, eggplant and peppers.
We are coming into the fall fruit this month with an abundance of apples and pears. Local figs have started and the grapes are ripening. Come to the Farmers Market for a great choice of local grapes varieties.
The Farmers Market is open twice a week: Saturday morning from 9 until noon and on the plaza on Tuesdays from 4 - 6:30 pm.
Sonoma County produce is featured in most of our restaurants. It's always a good night to eat out in Healdsburg. |
